Cooperative Education




About the Cooperative Education Program

The Cooperative Education Program or "Coop" as it is commonly known is an option for those students who are enrolled in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce Program in the following majors:

  • Business Finance
  • Human Resources Management/ Industrial Relations
  • Information Systems
  • Business Finance
  • Accounting
  • Marketing

The Coop Program assists students find interim professional employment throughout the program and most notably, at the end of their third year of studies.  This lengthens the overall program to five years but provides successful students with practical, professional, work experience which they can later use to seek employment after graduation.


Program Regulations

The following regulations apply to Coop students:

  1. To be considered for admission to this special program, a student must have satisfactorily completed all courses required for Year I.  Students are selected on a competitive basis.
  2. The University will provide employment contacts with participating employers for each student prior to each work period.  Students must apply for placement opportunities.  Employers make hiring decisions on a competitive basis.
  3. Year to year continuation in the program requires that regular program requirements be met, and all required Business Work Placements be successfully completed.
  4. Work term credits (Business Work Placements) are not applicable towards the completion of a regular Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree or Bachelor of Administration degree.
